Annual Dance Recitals These shows are the highlight of the dance season! All dancers enrolled at ADA, who are attending classes on a regular basis, are invited to participate in these performances. Our shows are typically held in mid-June, and tickets are sold with reserved seating for your convenience. Services for flowers, apparel, videos, DVDs, photos, a bake sale, and a caterer, are available for the parents and guests. Special awards, magicians, clowns, and singers, are all part of the fun for the dancers. Performance content and recital venue are determined by age, family, and ability level. Our shows have a reputation of being organized, well run, and enjoyable for all to see.
Competition Team Our team consists of portions including Novice, Mini, Junior, Senior and All Star levels, plus an Irish Step group. Dancers are invited into this program by Teacher recommendation, and accepted into this by program through a low pressure audition process. This team performs Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical numbers learned in their choreography classes. All members have a Ballet requirement to fulfill, and the addition of technical classes is determined by each dancers age and performance level. We typically attend one NYC workshop weekend, and four competitions per year. All competitions, including Nationals, are within a reasonable driving distance. We reinforce the concept of healthy competition by keeping forward in our minds, that we attend to gain knowledge, improve as dancers, and grow as people. With this open mind concept, we are able to achieve great things!
Irish Dance Performances A certain number of dance routines are taught during the regularly scheduled classes, to be performed around the St. Patrick's Day holiday, and at the Brookfield International Cultural Festival. These routines are original choreography, designed by our staff of Irish Dance Teachers, especially for performances. In addition, a recital routine is learned each year, to be performed at the recitals, and is often added to this performance collection. These performances are wonderful exposure for the dancers, and are always enjoyed by our audiences. It is also a great way to learn about the evolution and heritage of this popular style of dance.
Adult Performances In the spring, we specially arrange performances for our adult dancers to entertain at area nursing homes. These performances are on a volunteer basis. Not only do they provide great practice for the adults prior to recital, but they are a super way to brighten the day of the older folks in our community!
Touring Company This is a seasonal program which is based upon three elements: volunteering performers, availability of practice space, and a Teacher with time to dedicate. This company is for our students of all ages and abilities (including their siblings and parents) to show their many talents around our community. If you are interested in this program, keep your eyes open for the advertisements. This company can take place at any point during the dance year.
Performance Troupe Performance Troupe is designed as a performance outlet for dancers who choose to perform more often in a non-competitive venue. It is a community dance collaborative, open to dancers ages 11-18, from all area town's and dance studios. This troupe gives dancers a chance to work together with a wider cross section of performers, and an opportunity to perform at some high profile locations. Our past troupes have entertained at Disney, Great Adventure, King Island Paramount Park, and South Street Seaport! This is seasonal, and is available when rehearsal space and staff are available.
